RIDVAN YILMAZ wants to leave Rangers in January with a six-month loan offer on the table for him to return to Besiktas, reports are auggesting.
The Turkish left-back has struggled to break into the first team under Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox.
The 21-year-old has made just three Scottish Premiership appearances for Gers since signing from Besiktas in the summer for a fee in the region of £5million in total, with £3.4million up front.
He was handed a brief run in the team before the World Cup break but his progress was hampered by a hamstring injury, allowing Borna Barisic to re-assert himself in the starting XI.
Yilmaz was praised by Van Bronckhorst just last month as he admitted the youngster was still adapting to life in Scotland.
He said: “For Ridvan this is a new club and country, he’s settling in really well. The beginning was a bit hard for him to get settled but I see improvement in his training, he feels more settled with the players.
“It’s always good to see that. We have to see in the coming weeks that he will feature more in the team. Of course, depending on what we need in games.”
Nwo, according to FotoMac, Besiktas director Ceyhun Kazanci wants to meet with Rangers chiefs to discuss the possibility of bringing Yilmaz back to his old club on loan.
It’s claimed current Besiktas boss Senol Gones has grown unhappy with the performances of Arthur Masuaka, who’s on loan from West Ham.
With Masuaka the only option at left-back, it’s being said that Yilmaz wants a return to Turkey with his former club if both sides can agree a deal.
Last month former Rangers defender Alan Hutton said he believed Yilmaz could head out on loan if his first team prospects didn’t improve.
He said: “It is a strange situation.
“I think Rangers put out a lot of money in transfer fees to bring him in.
“I think it has taken him a little bit longer to settle.
“I think if it goes the way it is going and Barisic is going to be a regular starter then he might look to go out on loan.
“But something in the back of my mind tells me that Rangers have paid all this money for him they are going to try and get him in the team.”
