CM Dhami visits DMC to review situation arising out of rain in Uttarakhand
Soon after following India Meteorological Department predictions on Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the Disaster Management Center (DMC) on Friday. The IMD has predicted isolated hailstorms over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and East Rajasthan on March 30-31. Dhami on Friday reached the DMC at the Secretariat to review the situation arising out of rains in the state with the officials, said an official release. Apart from instructing the officers to be alert, CM asked the Secretary of Disaster Management to coordinate with all the District Magistrates.

Memphis shooting leaves 2 police officers, suspect wounded
Two Memphis police officers and a suspect were wounded in a shooting during a foot chase in the city, authorities said. The shooting occurred after officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at a convenience store shortly before 7.30 pm on Thursday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement. The two officers and the suspect, who was outside the business before the chase began, all were transported to hospitals for treatment, the bureau said.

IMF board approves $15.6 bln loan for Ukraine -source
The executive board of the International Monetary Fund on Friday approved a four-year $15.6 billion financing package for Ukraine to help the country meet urgent funding needs as it continues to defend against Russia’s invasion. The loan is Ukraine’s biggest since Russia’s full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022, and the first major package approved by the IMF to a country involved in an active conflict.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday said it has attached assets worth about Rs 15 crore of a former Assam government officer and some companies who allegedly misappropriated official funds. A money laundering case against the officer and some private entities was filed by the ED based on a complaint of the chief minister’s vigilance cell.

India domestic gas prices remain unchanged
India has extended the current price of $8.57 per million metric British thermal units (mmBtu) for locally produced natural gas from old fields to beyond March 31, the government said on Friday. However, India has lowered the ceiling price of domestic natural gas from difficult fields for the first half of financial year 2024 to $12.12 per mmBtu as compared to $12.46 per mmBtu at present, it said in a statement.

Govt authorises SBI to issue electoral bonds between April 3-12
The State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorised by the government to issue and encash electoral bonds through its 29 authorised branches across the country from April 3 till April 12. According to a Finance Ministry notification issued on Friday, the electoral bonds will be valid for 15 days from the date of issue and no payment will be made to any payee political party if the bond is deposited after expiry of the validity period. The electoral bond deposited by an eligible political party in its account can be credited on the same day.

Over 1 crore mobile numbers were seeded in Aadhaar following requests from residents in the month of February, an official statement said on Friday. The linking of mobile numbers with Aadhaar jumped 93 per cent in February from 56.7 lakh registration in January, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). “Over 10.97 million mobile numbers were seeded in Aadhaar following requests from residents in the month of February 2023, a jump of more than 93 per cent over the previous month,” the statement said.
