JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel has no plan to build new settlements in an area of the occupied West Bank that it evacuated in 2005 under a law the religious-nationalist governing coalition repealed this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s repeal drew protests from the Palestinians, who seek statehood in the West Bank, as well as from the United States and European Union.
