Former New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey has transitioned into commercial real estate by joining Newmark as a managing director in its multifamily debt origination and advisory unit, first reported by The New York Post.
“I’ve always been interested in the many different aspects of real estate,” said Harvey. “By joining an incredibly successful firm such as Newmark, I will be able to learn and grow from some of the best in the industry.”
Harvey will focus on developing new client relationships before pitching loans with Newmark’s Capital Markets Strategies unit. Harvey will work under Anthony Orso, the president of Newmark’s Capital Market Advisory Group.
Despite being new to the real estate field, Harvey has been actively engaging with clients and colleagues, leveraging his team-building skills in the multifamily and commercial financing sector, according to a source familiar with the matter.
