HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday sought to caution the people of Telangana, particularly farmers, against the promises being made by Congress and said ‘broker raj’ will come back in the state if they give their vote to the grand old party.
“I released the BRS manifesto and every promise made in it is based on the budget availability and projected revenue. The BRS has not lied for the sake of votes. But beware of the Congress which wants to snatch the power given to you on your lands by the BRS government in the form of Dharani portal. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka said Dharani will be thrown into the Bay of Bengal if they come to power.
“Decide for yourself, whether you want to be the decision-maker and the lord of your own land or would you be at the mercy of the brokers,” KCR said addressing a public meeting in Sircilla, an assembly constituency represented by BRS working president and his son KT Rama Rao.
The CM asked the people to see through the real intentions of the Congress.
“The hidden truth came out of Telangana Congress president’s mouth when he said that three-hour power supply is enough for the agriculture sector. I am asking you, whether you want a government which gives 24×7 power supply or 3-hour power supply,” KCR asked the audience, who raised their hands.
KCR went on to attack the Centre on power and agriculture sectors. “The Modi government threatened that 30,000 crore will not be given to Telangana if meters were not installed to agriculture motors by the farmers. We (BRS) government decided to bear the loss of 30,000 crore but did not want to burden the farmers by installing meters to agricultural motors. There is no 24×7 power supply to the agriculture sector even in Modi’s home state of Gujarat,” the chief ministersaid.
KCR listed out the promises made in the BRS election manifesto and said Telangana has become number one in per capita income, per capita power consumption, piped drinking water supply to every house, giving 24×7 power supply. “The Congress failed to achieve any of these in its nearly 60-year rule in the state (including undivided AP),” he said.
Addressing a public meeting in Siddipet, KCR said Dalit Bandhu, 1 lakh financial assistance to BCs are financial-intensive schemes and cannot be given to all the beneficiaries in a single go.
“But, I want to assure that these schemes would be continued until every beneficiary is covered,” the CM said and added that people should vote for BRS for communal harmony to continue in the state.
