US stocks open higher as investors cheer big bank earnings
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 102.20 points, or 0.30%, at the open to 33,733.34.
The S&P 500 opened higher by 10.88 points, or 0.25%, at 4,360.49, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 39.37 points, or 0.29%, to 13,613.59 at the opening bell.

Ahead of the IPO, parent Tata Motors will sell 9.9% stake in Tata Technologies for about Rs 1,614 crore. TPG Rise Climate will pick up about 9% stake in the transaction, which valued Tata Technologies at Rs 16,300 crore ($2 billion).Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation will buy the remaining 0.9% from Tata Motors.

Dollar softens slightly, yen in touching distance of 150
The consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.4% in September, keeping the annual rate at 3.7%, the same as in August. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the CPI would gain 0.3% on the month and 3.6% year-on-year.
“The data will keep the Fed on its toes,” said Nicholas Van Ness, U.S. economist at Credit Agricole CIB.

Swedish central bank sold $390 million in forex hedging plan
The bank in September announced it would hedge part of its foreign exchange reserves by selling $8 billion and 2 billion euros for Swedish crowns over the coming months to reduce risk. It believes the crown is undervalued.
“The measure is aimed at limiting the Riksbank’ losses if the krona appreciates and does not have a monetary policy purpose,” it said at the time.

The positive chart pattern like higher tops and bottoms is intact as per daily chart and Friday’s swing low of 19,635 could be considered as a new higher bottom of the sequence. The short-term trend of Nifty continues to be positive. A decisive move above the hurdle of 19,800-19,850 levels is likely to bring another round of sharp upside momentum for the near term. The uptick was driven by the potential for disruptions to Middle Eastern exports after Palestinian militant group Hamas’ attack on Israel at the weekend threatened a possible wider conflict.
