Newmark is expanding its sales team led by Doug Harmon and Adam Spies.
The company hired Marcus & Millichap broker Robbie Ferman to join its newly formed private capital markets team.
“It’s going to be a real interesting opportunity,” Ferman told The Real Deal. “No one has that kind of expertise in that field.”
Ferman will be working with the private capital markets team led by Dan O’Brien and Brett Siegel. The team was formed when O’Brien joined the company earlier this year, and works alongside the institutional team led by Harmon and Spies.
Ferman spent over three years working with M&M’s multifamily team focusing on deals in western and downtown Brooklyn. He said he’s closed more than 20 deals totaling more than $100 million.
Newmark has been hiring lately, most notably luring Harmon and Spies earlier last year from Cushman & Wakefield.
Company CEO Barry Gosin said on Newmark’s November earnings call that the company expects to see growth this year.
“We have been hiring, we have been hiring really great people,” he said. “We will have the best results and the highest market share. We think that has been proven across all the cycles. We have done well in the trough. We are doing well in the rise. We do better in the market recovery.”
