The Culpeper-based Real Estate Broker and former Culpeper County Board of Supervisor member apparently has trouble following instructions.
Over the course of the past 21 days and for at least the next six days Kathy J. Campbell, 49, will sit in jail completing sentences handed down by judges of the 20th Judicial Circuit.
Campbell’s no stranger to Rappahannock County Circuit Court where she’s faced several civil suits and garnishment hearings due to owing Realtor Julie Garrett more than $40,000 in sales commissions and interest dating back nearly five years.
Each time the Rappahannock court found in favor of Garrett, Campbell filed bankruptcy.
Earlier this year a U.S. Bankruptcy magistrate tossed Campbell’s latest case allowing Washington Attorney David L. Konick to reopen the local cases against the broker.
On September 20, Judge Designate William W. Sharp sentenced Campbell to a 10-day term but held off imposing the sentence for a week to give the woman one more chance to provide Konick and Garrett with discovery documents and title to a Hummer.
She didn’t comply and the county circuit court clerk’s office issued a subpoena for Campbell’s arrest.
Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputies served the arrest warrant on Campbell at Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center before transporting her to Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warran Regional Jail in Front Royal on Friday.
Back on September 24 Judge James E. Plowman sentenced Campbell in Fauquier County Circuit Court to a 60-day jail sentence (20 days suspended) for six show cause orders arising from a Fauquier County Juvenile and Domestic Relations trail that saw Campbell appeal to the higher court.
Originally, Campbell had received a 50-day sentence with 14 days suspended but after the appeal – which she lost – Judge Plowman imposed the stronger sentence and ordered court bailiffs to take her directly to Fauquier Adult Detention Center.
It’s unclear why Campbell hasn’t served her complete Fauquier-imposed sentence and the inmate records department at Northwestern and RSW were closed Monday for Yorktown Victory Day holiday.
The Rappahannock County case continues Friday in Washington.
